[Pedagogy-list] Conf. On Higher Ed Pedagogy @ Va Tech: Early Registration Deadline Jan. 15th!

Yes! Thank you, Mike.

I have attended (and “poster sessioned” at) CHEP. In 2015, when it was actually free…

It’s funny how some conferences just have a personal, connected feel. Only a few conferences in my history really have had that “professional obligation to each other” sensibility – CHEP and the IICE (https://www.iicedu.org/) and a few others. I found CHEP to be very communal. It has grown significantly over the past few years. For good reason.

Hope others can join you, Mike.
Have a great Thursday, everyone.
Kate

Subject: [Pedagogy-list] Conf. On Higher Ed Pedagogy @ Va Tech: Early Registration Deadline Jan. 15th!

Hello all,
I’ve already registered for this conference (see below) and wanted to share it with you as the early registration deadline is approaching. It’s highly affordable and close by…and more importantly, incredibly rich in faculty-led, literature-backed sessions that offer not only depth in content but practical take-aways as well. I’ve been to plenty of pedagogy-focused conferences and this one is far and away one of my favorites. Take a look at the session topics<https://chep.teaching.vt.edu/content/dam/chep_teaching_vt_edu/2019%20CHEP%20Schedule%201-9-19.pdf>.

UR’s own Della Dumbaugh is one of the featured speakers this year too! The main conference sessions are not geared solely to large institutions and most are quite applicable to teaching at UR. I hope to see some of you there. I’d be happy to share my findings/takeaways via this listserv or on the CoP’s blog.

Best,
Mike
