This is very very bad news!

Does anyone know when it actually goes into effect?

Subject: [Milton-L] Fwd: [SHARP-L] Duquesne University Press closing

I'm forwarding this email from Greg Barnhisel on the SHARP list, since it will be of obvious concern to Miltonists.

The faculty of Duquesne University received an email today stating that the Duquesne University Press is being shut down in a cost-cutting measure.

Duquesne University Press, founded in 1927, has long been one of the most important publishers of scholarly work on John Milton, John Donne, Emmanuel Levinas, and the phenomenological philosophical tradition. Its areas of emphasis reflected the scholarly strengths of the university's faculty and the Spiritan Catholic mission of the university. It is deeply disappointing to me to learn that the press will be closed, and I know that many of you share this feeling.

I would encourage those of you who have used DU Press books, published with the press, or work in the scholarly fields above, to contact the Press to offer your support and contact the university to protest this decision.

A good contact would be:

Peggy Eiseman, Assistant to Duquesne University President Ken Gormley
