IMS Secretary Sought

The Standing Committee of the International Milton Symposium has
established a search committee to identify possible replacements for
Professor Thomas Corns, who stood down from the role at the end of IMS XI.

The post-holder has the duty of ensuring the smooth running of the
International Milton Symposium. This requires the issuing of the call to
bid for hosting meetings of the IMS and the administration of the selection
process. The successful candidate will be expected to advise local
organisers on symposium-planning and to provide support and advice in the
establishment and conduct of programme committees.

The post is not remunerated, nor can the International Milton Symposium
contribute to secretarial costs.

*Anyone who would like to be considered for the post is invited to contact
Professor Stephen Fallon [sfallon at nd.edu <sfallon at nd.edu>]*, who is
chairing the search committee, no later than 1 September 2015.

*Note: if reading this message on Milton-L, be sure to respond by writing
to sfallon at nd.edu <sfallon at nd.edu> rather than by replying to the
discussion list.*

Search Committee:

Hugh Adlington, University of Birmingham

Katsuhiro Engetsu, Doshisha University

Steve Fallon, University of Notre Dame

Those of us who have had the good fortune to attend one or more of the
International Milton Symposia know how much we all owe to Tom Corns for the
resounding success of the IMS. It is now time for us to thank Tom and for
someone else to take the baton.

Last month's meeting at the University of Exeter, ably and elegantly hosted
by Karen Edwards and Philip Schwyzer, was one of the best ever.
Particularly encouraging for the future of Milton studies was the very high
standard of work being done by the cohort of young Miltonists.

All the best,
Steve Fallon
