[Milton-L] Milton's Paradise to Blake's Jerusalem

Great post, Dario, and yes, comparing plate 99 to plate 96 does make the
embrace on plate 99 look like a rape. There are explicit rapes in Blake
(Bromion rapes Oothoon in Visions of the Daughters of Albion) and violent
seizures that aren't necessarily rape (the Shadowy Female and Orc in
America -- in my opinion, she's clearly in charge, though Dorrebecker in
his commentary for the Blake Trust Illuminated Books series seems to want
to shut down discussion of any possibility other than a rape).

It's possible Milton's PL is Blake's primary source even more so than the
Bible, so perhaps we want to contrast Adam's prelapsarian seizure of Eve's
wrist with his postlapsarian seizure of her wrist. Blake could be following
Milton in these two drawings, but he could just as easily be commenting on
him.
