__This one, I believe, is called "the kiss." All the illustrations cluster around Book 4, the only book of PL published with the illustrations. Best, Joe Wittreich______________________________________

Subject: [Milton-L] PL illustrated by Salvador Dali

Dear friends and scholars

in a wonderful 1989 catalog just found at a book stand, a lot of
lesser-known masterpieces by Salvador Dali can be discovered,
including some pictures for Paradise Lost! Here's a very interesting

No caption is provided, but it certainly shows the moment in which
Adam chooses to share Eve's fate. I don't think Dali was a great
expert of Milton, but he had often dealt with a subject like that by
picturing one of his favorite legends: Tristan and Isolde.
This "Paradis Perdu" with 10 illustrations by Dali was printed in a
special edition -- 160 copies -- in France in 1974.
