I think Milton's worry about the costs of monarchy were quite clear, although he didn't see 24-hour news coverage coming.

"There will be a queen also of no less charge, in most likelihood outlandish and a papist, besides a queen mother such already, together with both their courts and numerous train; then a royal issue, and ere long severally their sumptuous courts, to the multiplying of a servile crew not of servants only but of nobility and gentry..." - Ready and Easy Way.

Clearly the big problem with royalty is that they multiply in numerous ways, a strange abundance...

But anyway, congrats to the Royal family.
