Why not also "interrogate AND embrace" (that is, "wind up embracing)?
Anybody who'd been to University and had proluded would know how to play
the Fun-with-Metaphysics wit-game; on the other hand, having been to
University and come away seeing it as a possible game [and maybe even a
mug's game] might sometimes reflect a position on and in metaphysics. .

The Division on Seventeenth-Century English Literature is seeking
papers for its 
two MLA sessions in 2013:

1) "Demons, Witches, and Other Objects of Hatred."
