Now, I finally understand! The prelapsarian Adam and Eve were hairy creatures! 
They shed their fur in the Fall, unlike most animals. Not proper for this Winter 
of our discontent, perhaps, but postlapsarian attire looks more fashionable . .

I just had the irreverent but pertinent thought that you would hardly refer to 
homo sapiens as :"The Nude Ape."  That exemplifies the distinction pretty well, 
I'd say.
