I'm not a scholar of the Bible; but perhaps the reference to "La Peyere" is
to Isaac La Peyrere: his *Prae-Adamitae* (published in 1655 in Amsterdam and
in English translation in 1656 as *Men Before Adam*) argues for the
existence of two creations: in the first, God created plants, animals,
humans, and the rest of the natural world; it is the second creation, the
history of Adam and the Jewish people, which is related in Genesis.
