Visitors might like to note that there's a fine small exhibition at the Bodleian Library, Oxford, until April 26.

For those who may be interested in the celebrations of Milton's 400th birthday outside of IMS9 . . . the church where he is buried provides this link:

For those who contributed to the Window fund: our heartfelt thanks, and regrets that we were unable to move it forward (as a result of church politics and other forms of ultimately insurmountable "red tape"). Though USM (the current custodian of the Fund) has had a change of personnel, and the incumbents initially insisted that the money belonged to the university, I hope you'll be pleased to know that it will now go to the City of London Corporation, to help defray some of the costs associated with negotiating for the installation of the plaque, its manufacture, and the unveiling celebration (which will be attended by the Lord Mayor and City Aldermen, as well as the Bread Street Ward Club). The future Charles III's dance card is already full for July, or he might have been there to welcome Milton back to London, too! After ten years (or 68, depending on your perspective) it's very satisfying to know that there will be something to say "John Milton was here!" in the area in which he spent most of his life.

Hope to see you all at the installation of the memorial City plaque at Bread Street, on the northeast side (at Mitsubishi's new Bow Bells House) this July--six months from tomorrow, at high noon!

Best wishes to all for a happy, healthy, and productive New Year,

  Carol Barton
