You ought to cover the Patriot Act as it appplies to libraries - and as librarians have bravely resisted it. The ALA web page should point to many resources. The Freedom to Read Foundation is an organization connected to ALA that keeps track of assaults on 1st Amendment rights. The recent Supreme Court decison about the kid demonstrtaing across the street from his school - something about Jesus and drugs? - might be interesting - have them read the majority and dissenting decisions - and of course AAUP have interests in this as well - thier journal, Academe, could be helpful. What a neat course!
