Peter Herman must be aware that Milton discusses his view of God in
works other than Paradise Lost. Does he find support for his
interpretation elsewhere in Milton's corpus, or did Milton habitually
resort to the device of the unreliable narrator?

Or is Peter Herman himself employing this device in this very
discussion, in a parody of recent trends in the academic study of
literature?
