Dear Fellow Miltonists,
We have just published a new website for the 8th International Milton
Symposium: http://www.john-milton.org There you will find the final version
of the call for papers, which is also available for download, information
about the organiers, a provisional schedule (subject to change), some news
about Grenoble, a list of hotels and the registration fees.
Papers are sought on "MILTON, RIGHTS AND LIBERTIES", the main conference
theme. Proposals on other aspects of Milton studies will also be welcome.
The Conference is to be held at the School of Law in Grenoble. It is to be
organized by the Centre of Studies for Historical and Legal Studies on Human
Rights, in association with many regional research centers, and under the
aegis of the Centre Claude Longeon, University of St-Etienne, a center for
literary, philosophical, theological and political studies.
The President will be Neil Forsyth, Professor of English at the University
of Lausanne, Switzerland.
Proposals of 250 words should be submitted for 20-minute presentations to be
delivered in English.
The deadline for proposals is June 30, 2004.

To be published, your paper should not exceed 5,000 words, footnotes
included. You should observe the formal requirements of the MLA Handbook for
Writers of research papers. (5th ed.)
We hope to bring together Miltonists from every continent with specialists
in other disciplines relevant to Milton studies.
We look forward to meeting you in Grenoble, in the heart of the French Alps.

Best wishes,
Christophe Tournu
