Dear Students,
Thank you all for your responses in helping us form a database for Prelaw
advising at UR. The database can now be used to help you in applying to
law schools and to communicate important information to you. I write
today to alert you to a program that I think would greatly benefit any
student interested in law. It offers an opportunity to study at Cambridge
University from law professors from Cambridge and UR Law School. The
opportunity to study abroad is enhanced by a course load focusing on law.
Students also benefit from working with current law students. This program
is highly selective so students are encouraged to express interest early.
Please feel free to contact me or Prof. Terry Price at the Jepson School
with questions regarding this program.
Sincerely,
Mark McGarvie, Director of Pre-Law
Dear Students,
Dr. Price has requested that I send you the following message
regarding the Jepson at Cambridge summer program:
This summer, the Jepson School of Leadership Studies will partner
once again with the University of Richmond Law School's summer
program in Cambridge, England.
Students will live and study at Emmanuel College, Cambridge.
Emmanuel College is one of more than thirty constituent colleges of the
University of Cambridge, and it is located in the Cambridge city
centre. Emmanuel College was founded in 1584, and early graduates
were among those who settled New England in the first half of the
17th century, not least of whom was John Harvard, namesake and first
benefactor of Harvard University.
Students will participate in classes, lectures, and out-of-town
trips to examine law and leadership in an international context and to
experience the rich intellectual and cultural history of England. Possible
courses include International Law, Legal History, Law of
the European Union, and Comparative Public Law of the U.K and U.S. This
program is open to all students at the University of Richmond, including
graduating seniors. It will be of particular interest to students planning
to attend law school.
The program dates are July 6 through August 9. Approximate cost of
the program is $5,800, which includes up to 6 credit hours of
University of Richmond tuition and room and board (Sunday dinner
through Friday lunch).
Please contact Dr. Terry Price (tprice at richmond.edu) for more
information.
Best,
Christine
