Hi NLSA,
Join your peers in room 206 at lunch today. It should be a relaxing
break from eating in your cubicle or the noise in the down under.
I need to apologize for making assumptions. Those assumptions caused
me to misunderstand the impact the NLSA could make on the Family DUs,
and prompted my desire to appeal the amount of money the SBA gave to the
NLSA budget.
I had not been to a Family DU before last Friday, and I had assumed
the SBA served the same kinds of snacky type foods at Family DUs that
they serve at regular DUs. Based on that assumption, the NLSA board
decided to co-sponsor the Family DUs so a family-friendly meal would be
served.
It turns out the SBA has always served a family-friendly meal at the
Family DUs and our co-sponsorship money didn't accomplish very much
beyond increasing the quantity of food and allowing the SBA Social
Committee to spend less.
Since it's now apparent NLSA's contribution of money to the spring
semester Family DU won't accomplish much, the need to appeal for that
money seems to have become moot. I now think we should not appeal.
As I wait for input from the rest of the board, I would welcome your
input also.
Thanks,
Clinton Fleenor
