Could somebody explain to me, why some, allegedly available, google books
(like the ones mentioned in John Geraghty's post) are not viewable, let
alone downloadable to me (in Hungary)? Is there some kind of area
restriction or subscription limit?

I just remembered Google Books and found the entire text:
http://books.google.com/books?id=UE8NAAAAYAAJ
<http://books.google.com/books?id=UE8NAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA28&dq=joshua+sylvester+w
eekes&lr=&as_brr=1&output=text#c_top>
&pg=PA28&dq=joshua+sylvester+weekes&lr=&as_brr=1&output=text#c_top
It can also be viewed in plain text and downloaded as a PDF (5.8mb):
http://books.google.com/books/download/The_Divine_Weeks_of_Josuah_Sylvester.

If you explore Google Books, you'll probably find more. One that might be
useful to you is:
