Thank you, James. What you've stated is essentially the precept on 
which I based my dissertation, nearly 15 years ago. Please do continue 
to separate Stanley Fish the cause celebre of academe from Stanley 
Fish, the (ardent) critical theorist who attempts to justify the ways 
of Milton to and for the rest of us. They are two very different 
people--and while the former might inspire some degree of derision, 
the latter deserves every measure of respect.
