[Milton-L] re: inattentive "sheep"

Hello All,

First, please forgive the cross-listing. Now, to my question: I know 
that church attendance was mandatory, but I also remember reading 
contemporary references, really complaints, about how people chatted, 
gossiped, walked around, conducted business, did everything and 
anything except pay attention to the service or the sermon. But I 
cannot recall the precise details of those references. Could someone 
among the learned please help?
