There is a splendid article by Janel Mueller: "Just Measures? Versification
in Samson Agonistes," Milton Studies 33 (1996) , 47-82.

I recall reviewing this, I think in an online journal, but cannot at the
moment lay my hands on the reference. .. perhaps in Seventeenth-Century
News. If anyone better organized than I can help, I shall be grateful as I
am planning a volume of Essays on Milton and Vaughan, with a section devoted
to reviews.

Second point: I recall reading a splendid pamphlet (late 19th C I think) in
the Bodleian years ago on the prosody of the Authorized Version, and would
love to read it again (so much that has been perpetrated in the Anglican
Church in the past few decades has been done by people with cloth ears).
It came up pretty much by chance as I was leafing through the body-builders'
catalogues they had in those days in search of various editions of the
Bible. Can anyone help?
