[Milton-L] "The Verse"

Bridges' work is a solid description using the theory of footverse with
substitution. In a way it is just a description of the system of iambic
pentameter illustrated with Milton's lines. In other words, you would get
similar conclusions from a study of Shakespeare's sonnets or even Pope or
The Faerie Queene. John Creaser has a recent study using the system of Derek
Attridge, which I think is superior.. He has some good conclusions about the
frequency of different variations, but no surprises.
