Milton is dead. He cannot as a person be defamed. The use of that term
in reference to any comment on Milton, of whatever sort, is sloppy
diction.

And it is extraordinarily juvenile for adult scholars to caterwaul about
a newspaper column that fails (in their estimation) to follow the
reverent tones which are appropriate to their icon.

This whole discussion belongs on Saturday Night Live as a spoof of
university scholarz.
