Dear Milton List scholars:
The Grand Paradise Lost ball was, of course, a fabulous success! With
the wonderful Charles McGrath article in the New York Times the day
before the ball, the cutting of the birthday cake provided by Clive
Milton, and the closing ceremony with the "firing up" of Milton's
head and the reading of the "testament of the poet" by Arthur Kirmss
(who temporarily scandalized the exhibit among Milton scholars world-
wide who thought the ceramic bust looked like Milton's nemesis King
Charles the First).
We also received a much deserved proclamation from New York's Mayor
Michael Bloomberg, recognizing the hard work and labor of love in
creating this Milton Festival, which Random House's web-site has
confirmed as the "largest birthday tribute to Milton in the world."

Milton in the world, with poets, artists and composers joining
