[Milton-L] Is this Milton allusion apt?

The allusion may be apt but ironically the critics would claim the same about Thomas Jefferson on more than one occasion throughout “the constitutional struggles of the 1780s and 90s,” Jefferson’s critics compare him to the Miltonic Satan.  The opposition party “deplored his Satanic obduracy and implacability”. What do the Dems think about Jefferson???

No, the allusion is not apt. Forgetting that the people they're
talking about are human beings, they lose a little bit of their
humanity themselves. McCain isn't Satan, and even Obama knows that.
