Dear all,
I resisted adding to the interesting and fun haiku strand my hopefully still
interesting but not necessarily fun input. Whenever I teach the Milton
course, I bring in the haiku of Milton¹s near-contemporary Matsuo Bashø
(1644-1694), and I step out of our era of study to share my favorite haiku
of the past decade by Kobayashi Issa (1763-1827):
Don¹t worry, spiders,
I keep house
casually.
It is good for students (and for my soul) to recognize different models of
artistic excellence and form across the globe during Milton¹s lifetime. I
wish I knew the original Chinese.
Adios,
Angelica Duran

> From a garden's goods,
