Thanks for your reply, Prof. Fleming.  I see from your last reply to Harold
Skulsky that you're defining historicism more narrowly than I thought, and
that we probably don't disagree as much as I thought.  I don't think I
approached the deconstructive position, though, which deliberately inverts
privileged readings or at least decenters meaning so that no reading is
privileged.
