I certainly understand why a scholarly edition of a text is exepensive to produce and takes time and talent galore.
What I do think is over the top: school of business texts that are so expensive that thieves break in to faculty offices to get desk or other freebie copies - revison after revision of anthologies like Norton for less than compelling reasons [what do you bet that - not matter what the outsome of the current presidential race - they will find "Othello" a more 'teachable' text than "Lear?" Maybe I'm just cynical.
