[Milton-L] early modern sermons

Heather, nearly all of the sermons of the 1630s-1660s (and beyond) deal with one or more of those subjects. The term "early modern" covers a long span of time: I'd suggest choosing a period within that range (such as "Renaissance") or specific preachers (John Donne, Lancelot Andrewes, George Herbert, Stephen Marshall) or denominations (Roman Catholic, Puritan, Quaker, Presbyterian, or Church of England), depending on what your assignment/research interest suggests. You can also try searching EEBO for "sermon" if you don't yet know what your specific interests are (but that will usually call up only those documents that specify "sermon" in their titles); or, having identified a period, search by the names of the preachers who were prominent at that time.

Hope that gets you off to a good start, anyway, and best of luck with your research!

  Subject: [Milton-L] early modern sermons

  Hello everyone,

I am in the middle of researching for a thesis project and thought it time to reach out. Does anyone know of interesting Early Modern sermons (or preachers) concerning the body, soul, or passions? Any suggestions are appreciated.
  Thanks
  Heather
