Hi Erick
I have seen "Glad Day" by Blake but had no idea of a Samson Agonistes connection. Possibly there was no commision forthcoming for Blake to illustrate Samson Agonistes. After all Blake did work to put food on his table. Thanks for your response.

Dear Paul Miller,
I do believe the closest you can get to Samson as pictured by Blake is a curious colour printed etching titled Albion Rose (a.k.a Glad Day or The Dance of Albion), which can be seen at the British Museum. If the figure shown is not exactly that of Milton's Samson, at least the inscription Blake had formerly attached to his own drawing on that theme echoes the Miltonic piece as well as his Milton, a poem, namely: 'Albion rose from where he labourd at the Mill with Slaves / Giving himself for the Nations he danc'd the dance of Eternal Death'.
Last time I checked, the etching and further information on it could be found at http://www.britishmuseum.org. The web-page cannot be directly reached though (the reason why I can't simply copy and paste its address), but once at the Museum page, you can go for 'explore', 'highlights' and look for the aforementioned title.
Best of luck,
Erick Ramalho

Can anyone tell me if Blake did illustrations for Samson Agonistes? I have looked at the Blake archive and on the web in general and don't find anything.
