Dear Colleagues,

The College Board has announced that the AP course and exam in Latin
Literature will be discontinued. This decision was made without
consulting Classics teachers. More than 3700 students took this AP exam
last year. You can find out more information and, if you wish, sign a
petition at http://eclassics.ning.com.

The AP courses and exams in Italian Literature and in French Literature
are also scheduled to be discontinued. So is the AP course and exam in
Computer Studies. This is the first time the College Board has chosen
to eliminate so many courses at once.

The April 4 edition of the Washington Post contains a substantial
article about these decisions.
