I have been shown a very well researched note by Leo Miller in Milton
Quarterly Vol. 6 no.4, Dec. 1972, pp.92-95 entitled 'Milton and
Lassenius'. Miller certainly goes through the evidence here.
Otherwise, from Biblioteca Norvegica we find four early
publications/translations:
1. 1771 in Trondheim ( Norway), printed at J C Winding. A translation in
attempted Miltonic style of Bk V, 153-208 "Adoration"
2. Adam and Eve's Morning Song, translated as well as possible into
Prose, from Milton's PL Bk V, with postscriptum. Copenhagen 1787,
printed at Johan Rudolph Thiele ( Bibl Norv III 2184 o) ?N Weyer 1786
3. Appeal to the reading public concerning Adam and Eve's Morning Song,
from Nils Weyer. Copenhagen 1787, 16 pp. Printed at Johan Frederik
Schultz, Royal University Publishing
4. A couple of words to Mr. Nils Weyer concerning his appeal to the
reading public (French quotation) Copenhagen 1787, 8 pp. Printed at Thiele.
So the Milton List is nothing new!
