Dear Margaret:
Thanks so much for attending the conference; we love having you here. I agree with you--the company is great and the presentations are wonderful. Don't worry about the conference continuing because it will go on until I die and beyond.
Thanks again for your continued support.
Best wishes,
Charley, Kris, and Kevin

Thanks to Carol for saying it so well. Charley, I like retirement, but please keep the conference going. It's the closest we have to a national meeting. What great company and presentations!

Many thanks (and kudos) as ever to Charley Durham, Kris Pruitt (Durham!), and Kevin Donovan for what is always a delightful experience, the MTSU biennial Conference on John Milton at MTSU (Murfreesboro). There are always many new faces at this meeting of "old friends," but as one senior Miltonist recently remarked in amazement, "You can't tell the graduate students from the faculty!" The environment is congenial, the conversation collegial, and everything so well (and seemingly effortlessly) organized that the only dilemma one faces is trying to be in two places at once, sometimes racing back and forth between sessions to catch the first paper here, the second paper there, and so on. All are worth the time and effort; if only it were possible to hear every last one!
Charley mentioned that he is thinking of "retiring" from his post as Master of Ceremonies (and Chief Magus) sometime in the near future (but not until after 2009). Perhaps the attendees would confirm what a *terrible* idea that is?
Best to all,
Carol Barton
