Assistant Professor of English in Renaissance Drama including Shakespeare.
Tenure-track, 2-2 teaching load. PhD in hand by July 2008. Send letter, vita, and letters of recommendation to Professor Eve Bannet, English Department, University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK 73019-0240. Also direct letters nominating candidates to Professor Bannet. Final review of applications will begin November 10th and continue until position is filled. The University of Oklahoma is an AA/EO employer. Women and/or minorities are encouraged to apply. Interviews will be conducted at MLA. The University of Oklahoma is located in Norman, a livable and affordable college town of c. 100,000 people only twenty miles south of Oklahoma City (pop. 1 million) with a convenient airport. The English department has 31 tenured and tenure-track faculty, including a cohort of younger faculty. Members of the department also edit Genre, The Variorum Chaucer and World Literature Today. Bizzell Library's holdings include EEBO, World Shakespeare Bibliography Online, and many other online resources, as well as major History of Science, Western History and Rare Books Collections. Funding is available for faculty travel to conferences and for research. Untenured faculty are also eligible for larger grants to support summer research. The University hosts an active year round program of theater, music, and lectures, and houses on campus the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History and the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, which includes collections of French Impressionism, Native American and Western art.
