[Milton-L] Re: An apparent reference to Milton in Anne of Green Gables!

I was somewhat shocked to read the following note in the Norton Critical Edition of Anne of Green Gables, edited by Mary Rubio and Elizabeth Waterston:

"In John Milton's Paradise Lost (1607), Gabriel defeats Satan and stands guard over Paradise." (172)
