[Milton-L] Lycidas as theodicy

Dear Miltonists,

A friend of mine is attempting a study of Lycidas as (not necessarily 
successful) theodicy and asked me if I knew of any works that deal with 
theodicy--or even theology--in Milton's early works. I'm afraid I had to 
confess my ignorance pre-1640s (not that my ignorance is restricted to 
any particular period!).

Do any of you have any tips?
