[Milton-L] Milton in The Watchtower

Dear Fellow Miltonists,

The September 15, 2007 issue of _The Watchtower_ published by the 
Watchtower Bible and Tract Society and the Christian Congregation of 
Jehovah's Witnesses includes a three page article on _De Doctrina 
Christiana_ entitled "John Milton's Lost Treatise." The average printing of 
this magazine is 28,578,000 copies per issue and is available in over 160 
languages worldwide. The article asserts Milton's authorship and praises 
the writer because "his treatise obliges its readers to measure their own 
beliefs against the unerring yardstick of Holy Scripture." The anonymous 
piece also commends Milton for his doctrinal positions on the inherent 
mortality of the human soul, the divine but subordinate nature of Christ, 
the resurrection, and the future of the earth. This article could generate 
some unexpected interest in the poet.
