[Milton-L] elusive?

I find in some ways "brighter and richer (and quieter)" to be Milton's
description of the ebbing waters after the Flood:

>From standing lake to tripping ebbe, that stole
With soft foot towards the deep . . . .
                (PARADISE LOST, 12.847-48)
