Hello everyone, I hope you had a great summer! I just wanted to drop you
a quick note to let you know that there are openings in two key
environmental studies classes. Both classes can be used to fulfill
requirements in the ES major or minor.
ENVR/PLSC 362, Environmental Law and Policy. This course was initially
not going to be offered this semester but got picked up at the last
minute, so it may have flown under your radar. It requires Envr 201.
This course is a requirement for majors; for minors, either this course
of Envr Econ (which has a prereq of Econ 101) must be taken. There are
10 spots left.
ENVR/GEOG 250, Intro to Earth Systems and Physical Geography. It can
either be used to satisfy the Physical Environmental Science
requirement, or as an ES elective.
Keep in mind that both courses are cross-listed, you can sign up under
either listing.
Speaking of the physical science requirement, although Chem 110
(Pollutants in the Environment) is currently closed, there are plenty of
openings in Chem 316 (Environmental Chemistry). The latter course
requires Chem 205 (Organic Chem 1, although this requirement can be
waived) but, unlike Chem 110, does not have a lab. If used as an
elective, it can act as a 300-level science class to help earn the BS.
Feel free to stop by or schedule an appointment if you have advising
questions...especially now that the dreaded unit system is upon us.
Good luck in the new semester!
